Want a Much Better Protein Bar?
For sure youve always wondered what the commotion is about those cardboard-tasting protein bars being sold at convenience stores. Who wouldnt be interested anyway when everybodys been craving for it? Blech! But, hey, you see a hot girl making a beeline to the protein bar section and you wonder, Perhaps there is something great about those protein bars. After all, if its what helps attract the ladies, youre all for it, right?
So why have the protein bars become so popular? Sit down and grab a cup of Joe, cause youre about to be introduced to the new and improved candy bar.
Protein bars started out as a bit of an accident with the power bar concept. It was because they were only carbs for people who need additional energy while theyre on the road. But who wants extra calories? you wondered. This is because most of us have lifestyles that dont involve sitting in front of a PC all day. And protein bars are so vital so that we dont get too weary easily.
Right now youll find many different protein bars and drinks, energy bars and drinks on the shelves of everywhere from 7-Eleven to the local store. Now, a lot of these bars have difficult problems with them. They may taste like complete crap, loaded with too much calories, or may just basically be a candy bar with a protein or energy label. So which ones are best for you? And better yet, why should do you care?
First, you care because they are a fantastic source of protein that can be put and kept anywhere. They are can be brought in a bus, placed inside your pocket, or eaten while inside an office. The more you have these, the more youll feel full and less likely to go more than your regular food intake. They are also great if youre trying to maintain a diet plan.
Second, protein satisfies our hunger much longer than carbohydrates (especially simple carbohydrates) do. All you need to do is find for a protein bar with a good balance of carbs, protein, and calories. A good rule of thumb is to go for a bar that has 15 to 20 grams of protein for every 125 to 175 calories. This means that you get 40 grams worth of protein for an intake of around 300 calories. If you keep this ratio, youll be able to go with your five small meals a day plan with no difficulty.
So which are good? Well, so far, Chef Jay and its counterparts have been putting out some protein bars that arent half bad. I also adore the Detour bars. And then theres also the Promax Bar. Of course, taste is varies for each person, but I can tell you that anything that says low carb on it possibly has sugar alcohol as an ingredientand tastes like crap. Nevertheless, try some of these.
