A tummy tuck can give you a flat stomach by tightening your inner girdle. It also removes the loose skin of your lower abdomen and tightens the skin of your upper abdomen.A tummy tuck can also remove nearly all the fat of your lower abdomen as well as the stretch marks. Therefore tummy tuck brings about a better look to your stomach.
Advantages of a tuck Some women have additional skin and fat in the abdominal area and sometimes find that even with work out, they cannot attain a flat stomach. This is mostly common after substantial weight loss, pregnancy, which may result in loose skin, slack stomach muscles and stretch marks. Thus to remove excess skin and fat they go for a tummy tuck.
For the majority of these patients, the skin and abs have been so badly stretched and damaged that exercise and diet alone just arent sufficient to cope with the excess skin and fat. In these cases, a mini tummy tuck can be the only alternative.
A tummy tuck takes about three to five hrs under general anaesthetic and patients usually stay in hospital for one or two nights. During the operation the surgeon makes an incision across the lower stomach from hip to hip, about 2in below the belly button. The additional loose skin and fat are removed from the lower tummy and, if necessary, the abs are tightened. This is performed by separating the skin from the abdominal wall and lifting a huge flap of skin to expose the stomach muscles. The muscles are pulled closer together to tighten them and then stitched to hold them in their new position. Occasionally surgeons also perform liposuction during a tummy tuck, normally when theyre removing the excess skin and fat.
Price A tummy tuck costs between 5,000 and 8,000.
Recovery period
Rest is recommended after the Tummy tuck surgery. Any pain or discomfort that follows operation can be curbed with oral medication. There will be a drainage tube in each side of your lower tummy to drain any blood or watery liquid that collects from the operation site. Bend your knees and hips slightly in order to decrease any sort of strain on your stitches.
For about a month afterwards you will require to wear an elastic support bandage around your stomach and anti-thrombosis compression stocking on your legs to prevent blood clots from forming. After about 7 to 14 days the stitches will be taken away, but youll still require to wear the support. The surgeons also put in deeper stitches and these are taken out about two to three weeks after surgery.
A tummytuck has a lengthy process of recovery and one can expect its recovery time considering the amount of skin and fat removed. Usually the patient has to put on dressings for numerous weeks. Also the patient is recommended to avoid heavy exercise for about a month after surgery.
Most patients go back to work about two weeks after their operation and it usually takes about nine months for scars to flatten and fade.
Tommy tuck and hazards it involves There are various risks associated with tummy tuck such as poor healing and infection. You can get rid of them by appropriate treatment such as drainage and antibiotics.
Irregular scar is an additional complication that some of the patients face. Regular scar is not visible and is under the bikini marked from hip to hip. In some cases scar tissue can redden and bulge, but a surgeon can sort out this up at a later date. Loss of feeling on or around scar is also common in some of the patients.
After operation you might suffer with DVT. Hence to get relief from this you are suggested to do some light exercise and wear anti-thrombosis compression stocking.
How reliable is an abdominoplasty Tummy tuck is usually long- lasting if the patient follows a balanced diet and habitually exercises.
